World ID Orb verifications are launching in Brazil, bringing important digital proof of human access to the largest and most populated country in South America.
With World ID 3.0, the most enhanced version of World ID to date, people can anonymously verify that they’re human and unique online. This is increasingly important as AI agents become more prevalent on the internet.
Verifications are returning to Brazil after pop-ups were first made available in 2023 as part of a global world tour and preview. They will be available starting on Wednesday, 13 November at multiple locations throughout the city of São Paulo, with plans to add more locations in additional cities in the future. Benefits of proof of human access in Brazil
In Brazil, so-called “bad bots”, which now make up nearly a third of all internet traffic according to Imperva, are having a significant negative impact on people.
A survey of 1,200 Brazilians conducted by IPSOS and World contributor Tools for Humanity revealed that 7 in 10 respondents are concerned about whether the content they consume is created by a human or a bot. A remarkable 93% of respondents also claimed either to have been the victims of identity theft themselves, or to know someone who has been.
World ID not only offers a way to verify humanness online, but it also can now help protect people in Brazil and around the world from deep fakes thanks to its new Deep Face technology, powered by Face Auth, announced at the “A New World” event in October.
These are important protections for a country that constitutes the world's 7th largest consumer market and is responsible for more than 40% of Latin America's GDP.
World privacy protections
World does not seek to know who you are, just that you are a unique human. The network is built around four privacy principles:
- Security: Secured by math (cryptographic encryption)
- Anonymity: Move freely online
- Transparency: Built in the open
- Choice & Control: Your data, your rules
These protections are behind some of the remarkable privacy breakthroughs that World Network has achieved, from the development of an Anonymized Multi-Party Computation setup to protect data to the use of zero-knowledge proofs at truly global scale.
You can learn more in the network’s privacy whitepaper, Private by Design, or by watching the Privacy in the Age of AI video series.
